GitHub’s Oct. 14 HydraFusion update expands its model pool to Claude Opus 5.5, GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol, and GPT-6 Luna, adds per-stage reasoning effort, makes Cascade conditionally request repairs after judging, and has parallel critics inspect the workspace directly in Critique. HydraFusion Max is a new higher-effort option; both remain research preview in VS Code, Copilot app, and CLI. This materially advances Microsoft’s multi-model coding-agent orchestration, though no independent quality/cost results are published yet. Anthropic’s Frontier Red Team reports experiments suggesting small AI models may be months from self-replicating across commercial IoT devices: a 9B model got inference running on 8 of 9 tested hardware types, while models up to 30B can perform many component steps but struggle to compose them reliably; GLM-5.2 and stronger completed the study’s simplified end-to-end task. This is a lab threat assessment, not evidence of an active worm in the wild, and highlights how agent infrastructure/security risks extend to local and edge compute. New arXiv research proposes a self-evolving agent harness: persistent revisions to prompts, memory, workflows, tools, and code while keeping model weights fixed, with independent validation/admission rules intended to limit regressions. It is a conceptual/theoretical contribution with continuously updated code, not yet a demonstrated production system; its focus on harness evolution rather than model training makes it a novel agent-architecture lead. BLADE is a newly surfaced, training-free multi-agent failure-attribution method that audits how information is used at agent-to-agent handoffs, distinguishing error introduction, propagation, and repair. Authors report best/tied-best step accuracy across eight strategies on 1,228 failed runs and five benchmark subsets; early paper results, but a relevant reliability/observability idea as agent workflows become harder to debug.
